but in the Olympic women's soccer semi-final between Canada and USA a proper game of football broke out. i only started watching in the 75th minute but apparently Canada went 1-0 up before USA equalised. then Canada went 2-1 up but USA equalised. then Canada went 3-2 up before USA equalised with a penalty (it was a penalty) putting the game into extra-time. the scores stayed level until the third minute of stoppage time of the second half of extra-time when a last gasp USA header made it 3-4 and USA go on to meet japan in the final.

plus it reminded me just how spectacularly dirty women's football can be. seriously i've no idea how Canada's number 14 stayed on the pitch.
