Housing Contradictions.

As the Para-Olympic flag has been raised over number 10 Downing Street Britain has decided to focus on the relationship between local councils and property developers. One report has suggested that local council's sell off expensive properties they own in rich areas in order to give the money to property developers to build new homes in poor areas. Another report has suggested that property developers are freed from their obligation to provide affordable housing under the 1990 Town and County Planning Act which was the legislation used to justify the Dale Farm eviction. Both of these reports suggest that property developers are given carte blanche to do what they like.

In slightly more positive news Britain's airport operator BAA has dropped it's legal action regarding the forced sale of Stanstead airport. In code going back several years BAA represent the British state so this story could be interpreted as an indication that the Brits are going to drop the notion that they have any legal right to force the sale of my grandmother's property. However the conflicting messages mean I'm going to need something more concrete before the start of the para-Olympics because if I have to make the next move the judges will have to be sacked and all their cases re-opened. As the only person who can sack British Judges is the Queen this is not an instruction that can be refused without it having serious implications for the entire British legal system - that 'storm' BBC weather forecasters failed to warn people about.

And yes I found the news about the para-Olympic flag being raised over the British Prime Ministers offical residence quite amusing because it's really more their speed.

14:50 on 20/8/12.
