Big Fire in London.

Throughout this afternoon up to 200 fire-fighters from London's Fire Brigade (LFB) have been battling a huge fire at a recycling centre in Dagenham on the east London/Essex border. I am not yet sure if the recycling centre is the same one that Olympic travel organisers (@GAOTG) have been promoting in order to get people to leave their cars at home in exchange for recycling points. However the obvious environmental theme along with the fact that acts rumoured to be appearing at the Olympic closing ceremony have been seen rehearsing at an industrial site in Dagenham should have made for a tense afternoon for the Olympic family. It was especially worrying for any security delegates because if you were to launch a mass casualty false-flag terrorist attack on the Olympic closing ceremony making sure the emergency services were fully occupied in another location is one of the first steps you would take.

The emergency services are not fully occupied elsewhere and even the wind direction should carry the smoke away from the Olympic stadium. However I suspect good humour will be in short supply at the security check points at the stadium so if you do have tickets for the ceremony which starts at 21:00 local(20:00GMT) organisers are recommending that you arrive no later then 19:30 (18:30)

17:35 on (12/8/12)
