I Have Been to the Bar.

And found it boring so I left. Yes that's right it's Tuesday night and I'm back from the pub. For that joke to work you must know that in order to practice law in the USA you must register with the 'bar association' by passing the 'bar exam' and of course 'bar' is another name for pub. More words will appear here shortly.

Edited at around 19:15 on 21/8/12 to add;

Elsewhere in sex crime news three members of the Jordanian para-Olympics team have been arrested on charges of sexual assault in Northern Ireland. Obviously this is a British reach out to Jordan over the situation in Syria which considering US President Obama's recent comments on Syria along with the Bulgaria bombing, reports that Israel has forward operating bases in Iraq ready to attack one of the Irans and the bomb scare at the Israeli Embassy in Dublin (Republic of Ireland) is quite a hot topic at the moment. However at this point I'm far too drunk to make the distinction between the definition of 'sexual assault' in Northern Ireland and the definition of 'sexual assault' on the British mainland. You see due to devolution the Northern Irish Assembly has the power to introduce slightly different laws. For example they have today put out for consultation plans to change the laws regarding prostitution. Although this is only at the consultation stage and I've not even read the consultation document I believe the plan is to make it impossible for a woman to consent to sexual penetration if she has been offered money as an incentive. This of course has a direct relevance to the 2014 Olympic host Brazil's recent introduction of statutory age of consent laws and the specific case of a man who was recently cleared on appeal of the rape of a 13 year old female prostitute after being convicted under the old presumption of violence laws. Unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember the specific case reference.

However having explained why rape and sexual consent are such hot issues at the moment I think it is only right that I move on to the case of presumptive US Senator Todd Akin. Honestly I'm too drunk to guess at what he meant when he said that in cases of legitimate rape the female body can prevent pregnancy. Instead I choose to seek solace in the knowledge that if his doctors are that stupid it's unlikely he will live long enough to take up office. In fact I seem to vaguely recall a conversation with a rape counsellor who I met socially who explained that one of the big problems they have with rape survivors is getting them to come to terms with the fact that during the rape their body showed the physiological responses of sexual arousal such as vaginal lubrication and some even achieved orgasm as a result of the rape. However I'm still pretty sure that in referring to 'legitimate rape' Akin was referring to women who procure abortions on the basis of 'rape' rather then the legal or moral definitions of the term. The reason why the big bad CIA are giving permission to for story to be pushed is to fish for information about my sex life.

And yes given that a lot of para-Olympians are amputees the really childish part of me is desperate to know what the Jordanians have been accused of touching with what.
