Accused's Gone Downhill.

"accused" is a hard hitting bbc1 drama that follows various people through the criminal justice system while telling the story of their alleged crime through a series of flashback. the debut season shown last year was critically acclaimed and really well done. the follow up season showing on tuesday nights has really lost it's edge.

i missed the first episode because it clashed with the csi finale. the second episode revolved around gun/gang crime on an housing estate/project in an unspecified city in the north of england. however it was blatantly an allegory for northern ireland during the troubles. the third episode shown tonight revolved around a young man who was driven mad by the thought that his mother's nurse had killed her by giving her an overdose of morphine in order to speed up her death from cancer so the nurse could marry the father. after the nurse moved in the man ended up stabbing her.this story line bears obvious but flawed comparisons to my grandmother's case. my only response to that is to paraphrase that scene where the judge looks at the defendent and says; "i must warn you if that's your defence it will most likely fail.

on the plus side writing this up on my phone has helped distract me from the truly awful "person of interest."

21:10 on 28/8/12.
