The Thing That Annoys Me About Homeland is...

... that everybody within the fictional US establishment knows that Brody tried to blow up the Vice-President and killed his sniper partner whose name I've annoyingly forgotten. Therefore the reason that he and his wife have been invited into the establishment is for them to be studied. As a result the discovery of Brody's martyrdom video is simply a plot device to allow Carrie back into the CIA. The other thing that annoys me about Homeland is that here in Britain we're getting season 2 so early that it's still in production although I've yet to be convinced that Friday's bombing in Lebanon is Syria's contribution to the writing process.

In a similar vein today's mass shooting at a spa in Brookfeild, Wisconsin, USA is supposed to look like the US setting out an information stall to discuss with the world a recent photoshoot Rihanna did with Croydon born British supermodel Kate Moss. In reality though it's an attempt by the establishment to make it look like they're telling the Republican Party that they will receive no more help in winning the Presidential election. The short version is that Wisconsin in Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan's home state and that spate of mass shootings following the Aurora shooting was the establishment trying to force the issue of gun control onto the election agenda because the Republicans are actively circulating a conspiracy theory that Obama will use his second term to crack down on the second amendment. This is actually quite clever of the Republicans because the fact that it's billed as a conspiracy theory means that whatever answer Obama gives will automatically assumed to be a lie.

So in summary there's this large element of the US establishment that is really confused about this notion of democracy. So much so that I'm pretty sure they actually have saboteurs within the Democrat campaign trying to blow it up from the inside. Mind you with a little under 15 days until the polls close I would say that making the Democrats really paranoid while they look for the clog thrower(s) is actually a really good way of distracting them.
