Go Cancer!

Because you deserve everything you get. And Cheryl Cole certainly got a kicking in the opening song. If you live close to the North Sea try and remember this detail it will come in useful later.

So anyway Andrew Mitchell the former Secretary of State of International Development and now(ish) Chief Whip of the Conservative Party has resigned from the Whip's post some four weeks after he called a number of police officers guarding the Prime Minister's London residence a "F*cking pleb" along with some other choice expletives. Coming at the end of a two day EU leaders summit this was mainly timed to give Conservative MP's something to talk about. However the specific moment of the announcement was to make sure that Britain's news channels would be so excited that they would have no time to comment on a story coming out of Cardiff, South Wales. Basically what seems to have happened is that a van driver has decided to go on a killing spree using his vehicle as a weapon. So far we're looking at one dead female adult, two injured adults and seven injured children. Obviously at this moment Cardiff University hospital is dealing with this and this alone so that may change. This was done to promote discussion about why my van driver mate's quality of life has deteriorated exponentially since working for a company that serves the British Government and the British Crown. Actually he should have phoned me by now so I may or may not be going to see him tomorrow.

I think the main purpose of the exercise was to promote salty talk in the ranks because the Brits are so tense at the moment they taken the precaution of taking the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) out of the game for the next two years. However the Brits were kind of hoping that everyone would believe this to be a spontaneous response to the conviction today of Christopher Halliwell in Swindon, Wessex for the murder of Sian O'Callaghan (gypsy stock). The bit that's caused all the anger though is that Halliwell has been allowed to get away with the murder Rebecca Godden because a police officer drove him out to the spot where he'd buried Godden without before properly having his arrest authorised in order to give him a technicality to get the case thrown out of court. I think the long term hope was that this would provoke enough outrage to justify giving the police all sorts of repressive new powers. Personally I'm more outraged that Halliwell has already been given a prison bodyguard because unlike Lance Armstrong he's certainly got a lot of contracts on him. But maybe that's just me contributing to the salty talk.

19:35 on 19/10/12.
