In the race to see who can most cynically exploit hurricane Sandy for political gain the out and out leader at the moment has got to be the Republicans Mitt Romney. For the last week or so he's been making recorded campaign calls to residents in the affected states urging them to evacuate. Today he held a relief drive in Ohio which looked suspiciously like a campaign rally. At the event he urged supporters to donate canned goods to the Red Cross in order to help those affected. The Red Cross have turned round and told people not to donate canned because they know exactly what's needed and how to get it so they would much prefer it if people donated money instead.
