Euro2012: The Racism Thing.

When they were part of the USSR/Warsaw Pact the countries of eastern Europe such as Ukraine and Poland were hidden away from the world behind the Iron Curtain. As a result they didn't experience the sort of migration that took place in the free world. Although things are gradually improving there are areas, especially the rural ones, where people have seriously never seen an actual black person in person. On top of that the poverty caused by the transition from a Communist economy to a Capitalist economy along with the colour revolutionaries refusal to accept the end of the cold war has caused many eastern Europeans to seek refuge in extreme nationalism. As a result many eastern European countries do have problems with racism and their Ultras are so ultra they border on the paramilitary.

While I can't speak for UEFA the sports governing body I suspect part of the reason for awarding the 2012 tournament to Poland and Ukraine was so these issues could be addressed slowly and gradually. However there is now little chance of that happening because Britain has decided to blow the racism issue out of all proportion in order to promote their own agenda and sabotage the chances of the England team.

As you may have heard back in October 2011 Chelsea's John Terry was sent off for allegedly racially abusing Queen's Park Rangers' (QPR) Anton Ferdinand during an English Premier League (EPL) match. Shortly after the end of Euro2012 John Terry is set to appear in court charged with a racially aggravated public order offence relating to that incident. Therefore it is up to the court rather then me to decide whether or not he did commit the offence. However if John Terry did racially abuse Anton Ferdinand I suspect that rather then doing it because he is a racist he and Anton Ferdinand got together before the match and agreed that John Terry would get sent off for racial abuse. This was done to promote an angle that the British government was working at the time whereby they were arguing that any objection to their policies on things like Libya, especially by me, were due to racism rather then a legitimate objection to their ideology.

The fact that John Terry seemed prepared to let his team lose in order to serve his government's political agenda caused a huge rift within the Chelsea dressing room leading to the mid-season collapse which meant their only chance of playing in the Champions League next season was through winning the tournament this season. Britain is now trying to play the same trick with the England national side by bringing up the issue of racism again. They also had some help from their old ally Belgium who by breaking Gary Cahill's jaw during a warm-up game re-opened the argument about whether Anton Ferdinand's brother Rio Ferdinand should be included in the England squad alongside John Terry.

I however would prefer it if the politics and the football were kept separate. After all I spend my whole doing politics. I watch football to try and get away from it.
