And Suddenly the News Makes So Much More Sense.

Although I can't pretend to be anywhere near up to date with events at the COP17/CMP7 I am now aware that China has talked a lot about the issues surrounding concrete positions. This is the sort of vague diplomatic language that could mean almost anything. Since then Britain has seen a spate of incidents where concrete blocks have been dropped from motorway bridges onto cars travelling below. This is Britain trying to enquire what China means and if it has anything to with cutting greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles.

As the first of these incidents occurred in Essex there is a subtext to the reporting that is was the gypsies that did it that raises the issues surrounding the Dale Farm eviction. Although not intended it also highlights the problems faced by gypsies/travellers in Britain. As soon as they move into an area it's like a bonanza for the local criminals because they know they can do what they want and it will all be blamed on the gypsies because apparently that's one form of racism that's allowed in Britain.

Also the US is making a lot of noise about the New York/Long Island serial killer. Although it takes a leap of logic to understand this is a reference to the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tuscon. However I'm not sure if the US are bringing it up in an attempt to damage my credibility or whether they are trying to apologise for their President's complete lack of leadership and failure to get the situation under control. I'm sure the action they will take over the coming days will help provide and answer.
