The official version of the video for Rihanna's single "Stay" is still embargoed here in the UK. As a result I've only seen the rough version. So here's the rough review;
It's just Rihanna lying nude in a bath for four minutes. The nakedness of her body is a metaphor for the nakedness of her soul. That's because as I'm sure you've already noticed from the "Unapologetic" album artwork at the time of the recording Rihanna was going through a sort of minor mental breakdown. She thought by exposing herself through lots of stripped back ballads showcasing her vocal talents she would be able to challenge her critics head on and through doing so defeat them. This attitude will of course be the death of her.
The imagery of her sitting all depressed in the bath is supposed to sell the issue of Rihanna's fragile mental state ahead of London Fashion Week and the Diamonds tour. However I'm not sure why that's an issue for anyone other then Chris Brown's probation officer.
