Crisis in Tunisia.

Yesterday morning (6/2/13) Chokri Belaid the leader of Tunisia's secular Unified Democratic Nationalist Party was assassinated outside his home in the capital Tunis. The killing outraged members of Tunisia's secular opposition who were already angry at the Islamist direction the ruling Ennahda Party has dragged the country in since the 2010 revolution. With rioting in the capital which already claimed the life of one police officer Tunisia's Prime Minister Hamdi Jebali has dismissed the political cabinet and called for the formation of a government of national unity. Jebali's own Ennahda party have already rejected that call and appear to have disowned their Prime Minister. Therefore there is one hell of a row brewing.

In response Tunisia's former colonial masters France have closed all French schools in Tunisia during Friday and Saturday and warned all French nationals to stay in doors. Therefore it almost goes without saying that Belaid was clearly assassinated by Qatari backed Islamists in order to do away with a popular secularist and pile pressure on France to withdraw from Mali in order to draw African forces into a nasty and protracted conflict. That pressure appears to be working with France complaining that it has spent E70million on the conflict in Mali and that spending is increasing by around E2.5million per day.

Also fierce fighting has erupted in the Syrian capital Damascus and the UK has ordered it's nationals to leave the country by any means necessary. So I feel forced to ask; are Team Breezy sure they've got until April?

16:00 on 7/2/13.
