Syria Claims Fresh Israeli Air Attack in Damascus.

In the last hour or so Syrian state television are claiming that Israeli war planes have attack a chemical weapons store facility close to Damascus deep inside Syria. There are two possible scenarios here;

Firstly Israel has mounted an attack on Syria. Apart from pre-emptively destroying Syria's chemical weapons capabilities this would significantly weaken the Assad government. Therefore it is Israel very firmly adding it's voice to the clamour of disgust of the US' seeming intention to go ahead the Rihanna operation.

Secondly and much more likely there has been no attack. Instead the Syrian government is attempting to tell it's people it's version of today's earlier Israeli air strike on a weapons convoy close to the Lebanese border. By portraying Israel as being at the front of efforts to overthrown the Syrian government Assad is trying to play into deep anti-Semitism within Syrian society in an effort to solidify support. This will fail because Assad's strongest supporters are located in and around Damascus and they will quite quickly realise they're being lied to when then they see no air strike has taken place.

Under either scenario the US's plan to contain and control Syria's Islamist opposition had better to be ready to go with immediate effect. That's because if Assad does fall sooner rather then later the US' plans in Africa are going to blow up in their faces in spectacular fashion. So I think it's really time for them to accept that I'm not the bad guy in the Rihanna story.
