Although arguably the Big Brother house as seen in the Dutch format Celebrity Big Brother is an example of a structured reality it was the US who invented soft scripted shows such as "The Hills." The idea being that if people are able watch as many hours of 'real people' on TV they will somehow fail to notice that they're being worked so hard for so little pay that they have neither the time nor the money to go out and meet actual real people. So I guess it's true turkeys sometimes do vote for Christmas.
