My Grandmother's Been Discharged

She arrived home today (2/8/11) at around 11:30 and has been asleep since. The plan now is that the enhanced care package will kick in immediately with carers visiting her daily at around 08:00, 13:00, 17:00 and 20:00 to make sure she takes her medications amongst other things. The first carer was meant to arrive today at around 14:00 but as of 15:37 they still haven't turned up which doesn't bode well for the future.

Although my grandmother is no longer being prescribed the Buprenorphine patch she is still being prescribed two other drugs that should have rung loud alarm bells at the hospital;

Felodipine: This is a calcium antagonistic which reduces the risk of blood clots by reducing the amount of calcium in arterial muscle cells. As the vascular dementia diagnosis has been thoroughly discredited it is unclear why my grandmother is being prescribed this drugs. The side effects of Felodipine include dizziness, restlessness, aggression, disturbed sleep, confusion and joint pain.

Omeprazole: This is a proton pump inhibitor which reduces the production of gastric (stomach) acid. It is most commonly used as a 7-14 day combination therapy with antibiotics to treat peptic ulcers. As my grandmother has never suffered from a peptic ulcer it is unclear why she has been prescribed this drug for over two years. The side effects of Omeprazole include dizziness, restlessness, aggression, disturbed sleep, confusion, hallucinations and joint pain.

I only mention this because the symptoms being used to justify imposing an enhanced care package on my grandmother are dizziness, restlessness, aggression, disturbed sleep, confusion, hallucinations and joint pain. So it looks a lot like they're deliberately forcing my grandmother to take drugs in order to create a problem that she must pay them to solve. Or "causing grievous bodily harm in the commission of a theft while breaching the Nuremberg code on medical research" as an arrest warrant would put it.

Oh and of course none of this has anything whatsoever to do with heart transplants, artificial or otherwise.
