It's Obama's Birthday.

He's 50 years old today. Do you reckon that's enough time to realise that the Lagarde appointment was a horrific mistake?

Today (4/8/11) a French court has ruled that the newly appointed head of the IMF, Christine Lagarde should be formally investigated for corruption. Specifically abusing her position as French finance minister to secure a large financial payout for a businessman who also happens to be a large donor to Ms Lagarde's political party. Oh and the thick end of US$100 billion has been wiped off the world's financial markets today.

So yeah appeasing the French by getting Strauss-Kahn off a rape charge is one thing but giving them the IMF as an apology is just weak.
