Nope, Still Nothing.

Overnight European Finance Ministers, including Britain, announced a US$1trillion bail out for the Eurozone countries. This left the finacial markets far to busy to bother with a minor squabble between two British political parties. So as the FTSE closed the LibDems decided to use that moment to impose the proportional representation system of government on everyone without even bothering to get into government. Gordon Brown also announced that he won't be Britain's next Prime Minister to the surprise of absolutely no-one. The net result of all this is that I'll expecting a result in the Europa league final before I expect an announcement on the next British government.

So in the interests of filling dead air I may as well take a look at one of the other more interesting individual election results. In the Croydon Central seat Andrew Pelling was defeated by Gavin Barwell. In 2007 Andrew Pelling was expelled from the Conservative party after allegedly beating up his pregnant wife. It is also alleged that he engaged in a period of psychological abuse that involved wrongly telling his own children that their mother had abandoned them because she was dying of AIDS. At the time I was working at a mental health project in Croydon and the only thing everyone there could agree on was that Andrew Pelling was crazy.

Standing as an independent he was beaten into fourth place on May 6th. So if we're using the election results to extrapolate results of a referendum where nobody was asked the question then voters in Croydon have overwhelming voted to do away with domestic violence and those who engage in it.
