Attention Whores.

That's an observation not an instruction.

You may remember that back in the UK on June 6th two babies were attacked by a fox. Tonight, in the prime 19:00 BBC1 slot, the babies parents have been given a full half hour program to discuss the incident. Officially the purpose of the program was to debunk allegations that the parents had made up the fox attack story to cover up the fact that the babies were attacked by a family dog that doesn't exist.

The problem is that this was never the allegation. The allegation was that over a period weeks the parents encouraged foxes in the garden of their home. Then on the night of the attack they purposefully left the garden doors open and smothered their twin babies with milk in order to encourage the foxes to try and eat them. Although the parents didn't know it at the time the purpose of this was to build up nationwide fear about the dangers of urban foxes. Then when the Cumbrian shootings that were scheduled to take place later that same week this fear could be used to steer the inevitable discussion about gun control towards a loosing of gun control laws.

The documentary did nothing to address that question. In fact the only bit of information that the program did uncover is that the mother is probably of Irish Protestant heritage and her family left the Republic during the 1960's. Of course that detail is a little difficult to check because since the incident the family have been placed under the protection of the police's anti-terrorism command making it difficult to go digging around in their backgrounds.

The other reveling detail from the program is while it was presented by a BBC presenter and shown on BBC1 it was in fact made by the father's production company. So the family have already been well paid for the incident.
