Zimbabwe News

Well I say news. Yesterday the UN security council failed to ratify a program of targeted sanctions which were sponsored by the UK and US governments. These sanctions would have restricted the travel and frozen the overseas assets of Robert Mugabe and other key Zanu-PF officials.

As this event was utterly predictable I can only assume it was part of official British government policy. Today I woke up to yet another kick in the teeth so I won't be challenging government policy, no matter how stupid it may be.

In more important news yesterday Manchester Utd footballer Christiano Ronaldo announced, to much derision, that he was being treated as a slave. Apparently Ronaldo likes to be identified by his initials C, R and his shirt number, 7. CR7 also happens to be the first three digits of my postcode so some people may be getting the impression that I am claiming that I am being treated as a slave. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact probably the only thing I have got going for me at the moment is the fact that I am not a slave and don't have to take orders from anybody.

Of course the British government still honestly believe that they can convince me to give that up so I can live out the rest of my days with a wife I hate doing a job that's beneath me while having to put up with a boss that despises me because by far out class him. This fundamental failure to grasp the concept of bribery does go a long way to explaining the current joy that is life in the UK. It also means I won't exactly be awaiting Monday's announcement on knife crime with baited breath.
