Okay I Voted...

... Can we have TV back now, please.

The polls in the UK General Election are still open for another five hours however it's already clear that the "Getting Above Themselves" award has been won by the E4 Channel by a landslide.

Part of the Channel 4 network E4 is aimed at "youth viewers" which pretty much means that it shows all the episodes of "The Big Bang Theory" on a continuous loop. In a self appointed mission to get Britain's young voters to participate in today's election E4 has voluntarily taken itself off air.

I wouldn't mind so much but unlike in the US and in much Africa the UK tends to have a polling station every 500 yards or so making it almost ridiculously easy to vote. Seriously from arriving at the polling station voting and leaving again took me all of 70 seconds and if anyone ends up queueing for more then 30 minutes it normally triggers an investigation by the Electoral Commission. Plus there's like 50 channels broadcast free-to-air in the UK including three others in the Channel 4 network so the loss of one isn't going to make a hell of a lot of difference.

To make matters worse they're bringing themselves back on air three hours before the polls close with their flagship "Hollyoaks" soap-opera right in the middle of peak voting time. Actually thinking about it it may have been an idea to run an all-day Hollyoaks marathon instead because although all should be allowed to vote perhaps not all should be encouraged to.

16:05 on 7/5/15 (UK date).
