OMG, So Tired.

I don't know about the rest of you but the Lausanne talks felt like I was being bludgeoned over the head with a baseball bat. The plan was that I would recover over a chilled out Sunday and return today to cover the ongoing fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) where there have been several major developments.

Unfortunately my famous neighbours decided to *ahem* 'celebrate Easter!' This meant my quiet evening was replaced by several hours of foot-stomping, hand-clapping and Pentacostalist-style singing. In fact if it didn't seem so menacing I would have sworn that some sort of religious service was going on even though that would violate their tenancy and a host of local planning regulations.

This really highlights the main niggle I've had about the Germanwings story. Despite Obama's childlike provocations people higher up the British chain of command have been working to keep a lid on things. Unfortunately the local rung of the ladder are not bright so through the Germanwings story they've got to thinking they have support and are free to start having ideas. The Malakhi Chijiutomi-Ghosh story being a case in point. Incidentally I'm pretty sure that should end with him being taken into care because using a sick child in that way doesn't strike me as particularly good parenting.

Also it couldn't have happened at a worse time because on May 7th (7/5/15) the UK will be holding a General Election. I'm finding it very hard to get excited about this because over the last almost 20 years the Labour Party have been buying up property locally and tithing voters to that property. So in Croydon North there won't be an election - instead there will be a landowner going around telling the peasants that Steve Reed will be continuing as their MP. To my mind that's not democracy.

They're also getting excited because they think a split in the non-black vote between the Conservatives and UKIP will allow them to seize the Croydon Central seat - something they've been trying to do for most of those last 20 years.

As for the rest of the country I'll need time to think about that because politics in the UK is a really dire position at the moment.

Anyway I hope the shooting in Mitchell's Brook, Newfoundland, Canada yesterday was a reference to UK Channel 4's long-running "Big Fat Quiz of the Year" show. That features children of around 7/8 years old from Mitchell Brook primary school acting out big stories from the past year's news. That's kind of what it feels like around here. Plus if the fricking Mounties know exactly who to arrest Croydon police are really letting the side down.

12:00 on 6/4/15 (UK date).
