Ashya King Update.

The background to this story can be read here; http://watchitdie.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/the-ashya-king-stunt.html

Since then a children's cancer charity has agreed to pay for Ashya King to receive proton beam therapy and a proton beam centre in the Czech Republic has offered to provide that treatment. As a result the King family have been put under pressure by the UK Courts, the Spanish Courts, the charity and their own legal team to put together a treatment plan for Ashya which was submitted to the UK Court of Protection (COP) which is currently Ashya's legal guardian. Late on Friday (5/9/19) evening the COP rushed out a statement agreeing to that treatment plan.

Friday's announcement was done specifically to coincide with the end of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Summit because the entire story sounds like it could be a coded reference for something else. For example I certainly receive a type of treatment from the UK. Some would say that treatment has been disgusting and morally indefensible while others would say that it has not been harsh enough. The talk of urgency added the drama of time pressure to the story while the talk of there being no further delay added a rather threatening tone.

I think at one point there was even talk of private jets which could be interpreted as a reference to Rihanna's jet set lifestyle. However it could equally have been a reference to the "ghost jet" that was making its way across the US, Cuba and eventually Jamaica at the time. That of course was a reference to the MH370 mystery in an effort to find out where everybody stood in relation to the upcoming publication of the preliminary Dutch report into MH17 now there is a ceasefire in Ukraine.

Despite all this my over-riding impression of the announcement was that rather then withdrawing all medical treatment and running away to Spain wouldn't it just have been easier for the King family to contact the charity and the Czech centre, draw up a treatment plan and use that to challenge the UK hospital's application to the COP if things even got that far. After all the purpose of the charity is to provide advice and funding in such circumstances and the Czech centre would likely have done it for free because it is quite obvious that they are trying wrestle the NHS contract for proton beam therapy away from the US.

What I did find amusing though is that in their rush to get the announcement out the COP failed to check with the Czech centre who have since pointed out that they will need to examine Ashya King before they decide whether he is even suitable for the therapy. So the COP have approved a treatment before the treatment provider has which hardly does wonders for their credibility.

18:00 on 7/9/14 (UK date).
