The G4S Scandal Continues

Following the revelation last Wednesday (11/7/12) that an extra 3,500 soldiers have been called up to guard the 2012 Olympic site after private security company G4S failed to recruit enough staff Britain has been talking about little else.

Today (16/7/12) the Home Secretary/interior minister was forced to answer urgent questions in the House of Commons and tomorrow (17/7/12) the head of G4S will appear before a House of Commons select committee. His purpose there will be to attempt to shift the blame onto the long-term unemployed which G4S has been specifically trying recruit for the Olympics. The idea being to justify the further stripping back employment regulations in order to make sure that people who work get poorer while the companies that employ them get richer - an Olympic ideal.

However during all the media coverage I've discovered that the uniform for security staff at the Olympic park is basically just a green tracksuit. This is the uniform of the Pakistani cricket team. You know just in case you somehow forgot that Britain (especially east London) has a large population of British born Pakistani Muslims who could be plotting to attack the Olympics(!)

Incidentally G4S' share price has dropped in response to the scandal. This makes them a strong buy because they've got a good P/E ratio and you just know they're going to be rewarded with lots of juicy government contracts for this performance.
