Today (10/5/12) the British Olympic organisers are in Greece for the lighting of the Olympic flame and the start of the Olympic torch relay. Apparently the Olympic flame needs to be lit from the sun which explains why they're not just doing it in Crystal Palace, UK. The sending of the Olympic delegation to Greece of creates a giant political and diplomatic link between the UK and Greece.
On the political front in Greece the Syriza coalition have informed the Greek President that they are unable to form a coalition government so the Pasok Party will have one last chance to form a coalition with New Democracy and the Democratic Left Party before Greece is forced into fresh elections. Meanwhile in the UK 400,000 public sector workers, predominately police officers and prison guards are taking part in strike action and a large protest march in London against the British government's wildly different pension reforms that are actually social engineering disguised as austerity measures.
However the hope is that only the words "Pension reforms" and "Austerity Measures" will translate into Greek energising Greek opposition to the EU bailout plan. After all what Greece really needs now is to fail to form a government so it is unable to receive the next round of EU bailout money leaving it unable to pay it's public sector workers and pensioners(!)
