Is it Time for Liz to Leave CBB?

Since my last post on the subject not much has been going on in the Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) house. This isn't because the show has suddenly become boring it is just that for there to be exciting days there also needs to be the odd boring day. Take example Saturday (18/1/14) when the housemates were again rewarded for a successful task with all the ingredients for a party such as snack food, music and lots of alcohol. However after Friday's (17/1/14) big party all the housemates wanted to do was sit around quietly and recover.

On Sunday (19/1/14) Luisa Zissman was set something of an interesting special task. This involved her having to manipulate other housemates into doing things. So for example Luisa had to make Liz Jones laugh, get Jim Davidson to disagree with her and get Dappy to teach her how to rap. The twist was though that while Luisa was being set this task in the diary room all the other housemates were being told what her task was and the true objective of the task was for the other housemates to make sure Luisa failed in her task. This was intended to sort of cut Luisa down to size after she'd started to become a little too active in her role of alpha female following the departure of Jasmine Waltz and the big fight between Jim and Linda Nolan. Rather then being a sign of a particularly malicious personality I think the zeal with which Luisa had been winding up the other housemates was simply her swinging too far in the opposite direction in a effort to recover the confidence she'd lost through the Jasmine, Lee Ryan, Luisa and Casey Batchelor saga.

The main news of the past couple of days though has been Monday's (20/1/14) nominations for Wednesday's (22/1/14) eviction. My obvious nomination would have been Linda Nolan. That's not out of any sort of malice it is just that the argument with Jim has clearly hit Linda hard and somebody needs to leave the house. Therefore it would probably be best all round if Linda were to leave so she can go off an grieve in peace. Unfortunately the other housemates have got stuck in a bit of a rut of nominating Jim and Liz for eviction. Big Brother has also got into a bit of a rut of also putting the housemate with the most nominations who isn't Jim or Liz up for eviction. On this occasion this was Sam Faiers who only actually received two nominations.

There can be no suggestion that Sam is evicted on Wednesday because although she is performing it quietly Sam is actually performing a vital role within the group. For example since the big fight with Jim Sam has taken to sleeping in the same bed as Linda in order to prevent her from getting too depressed. Similarly there can be no suggestion that Jim would leave because frankly what would Luisa do with her days if Jim wasn't there. Also Jim has started to display a fair bit of cunning himself.

Apart from the big fight between Jim and Linda the other big issue of the show has been the romantic relationship between Lee and Casey that Jasmine dramatically broke up. With everyone in the house angry at Lee and Jasmine and feeling a bit sorry for Casey it would actually improve the atmosphere in the house if Lee and Casey were to reunite effectively wiping away the memory of Jasmine. With Jasmine having left Casey has been starting to show signs of begining to take Lee back out of a combination of boredom and a lack of other options.

Jim has been doing his little bit to try and make this happen. On Saturday night he sat down with Lee and Casey and kept asking them questions about their relationship such as whether they were in a relationship of whether they could see themselves getting into a relationship. By getting them to focus on the issue Jim was helping them break down the psychological barriers - such as Casey's better judgement - that were preventing them from being a couple. As a result from Sunday onwards Lee and Casey have been moving ever closer to reuniting.

Therefore I think it is now time for Liz Jones to leave CBB if only to break the monotony of Jim and Liz constantly being nominated for eviction. For example Jim versus Liz and Sam for eviction is a bit of a no brainer but say Jim versus Lee and Dappy would be a much more interesting prospect. If by some miracle Liz remains in the house Big Brother might want to consider manufacturing a way to exclude her from the next couple of evictions.

16:25 on 21/1/14 (UK date).

Edited at around 19:55 on 21/1/14 (UK date) to add; I'm back from the pub!

Although I don't know if it will make it into tonight's highlights show according to the Twitter rumours and well the front page of Richard Desmond's Daily Star newspaper on Monday Sam Faiers suffered a violent allergic reaction and had to be rushed to hospital. While I've not seen her medical records I gather this was actually an outbreak of hives that was treated on site by the show's doctor with antihistamines. As with eczema this type of skin condition is often a psychosomatic reaction to stress. In Sam's case it seems to be a result of her role in the argument between Liz and Jim aggravated by her unexpected nomination for eviction.
