Bromley Church Machete Attack.
Just as I was going to bed earlier this morning (1/8/12) reports started to emerge of a man with a punk-style mohican haircut and a Batman: The Dark Knight Rises - style face mask attacking an elderly Church congregation in the London Borough of Bromley which neighbours the London Borough of Croydon where I live. Apparently all that happened was that the man broke into the church and waved a machete about before someone punched him in the face. After taking him to hospital for treatment for the injuries sustained while being punched in the face the local police scratched their heads for a bit before deciding to charge him with breaking and entering and threatening behaviour which will probably result in him receiving a small fine. I haven't mentioned this before because of time and well it was obvious to me.
The haircut and face mask were deliberately aimed at the USA over the Aurora shooting. The machete being used in a Church is a reference to the sort of everyday violence you get in sub-Saharan Africa in particular Rwanda during the 1994 genocide and Nigeria at the moment. Of course my father and mother were also once involved in a much more serious sword attack at their local Church back in I've honestly forgotten when. The presence of elderly Church congregation could have been a reference to either my grandmother's small London Welsh Church where she met her infamous Barrister Lloyd Lloyd or it could have been a reference to the Whitgift Church in Croydon although I'm not sure you could describe that as a "small Church" considering the multi-million dollar property deals they're involved in. The main purpose of the exercise though was to create speculation that I might have gone-off on one and attacked the current occupants of number 50 Beechwood. This was done in order to cause panic amongst nations visiting for the Olympics and conduct a quick survey about how now a Magistrate has stripped them of their protections under law what levels of force would be acceptable to resolve the situation. While I don't want to dwell on it you may also have heard that with almost perfect co-ordination the Saudi and Qatari Irregular Army (SQIA) have been up to some quite colourful stuff in Syria that also raises questions about what constitutes acceptable force.
This afternoon a Corner's Inquest found that Sean Rigg ( a black man whose death in police custody in 2008 caused a small riot outside Brixton Police Station) died as a result the use of excessive force by the police and a failure of the South London And Maudsley (SLAM) psychiatric hospital - who treated both my sister and grandmother - to properly manage Mr Rigg's schizophrenia. Apart from being yet another attempt to provoke an Olympic riot this was an opportunity to discuss SLAM, police violence, schizophrenia and other mental health issue including some of my antics. My favourite part was a suggestion that "SLAM should be better integrated within the criminal justice system" which is sort of management speak code for Britain asking the Olympic visitor's if they think SLAM et al are going to have to do jail time. Of course the flaw in that plan is that I'm the guy Britain have got to do the deal with.
Oh and also a young black male was stabbed and killed in the south London Borough of Lewisham. I hate to be blunt but this sort of thing has been so routine in south London since probably the Victorian age it's really only because of the Olympics that it made it onto the news.

I'm Doing my Nails.
I'm about to start very carefully cutting my finger nails. Due to my manky finger nail this involves applying a lacquer to the infected area. This laquer will take about an houur to dry so I won't be able to do anything involving my fingers - not even use Twitter. That's a shame because it appears my capitalisation problem has sorted itself out.

Kadima's Screwed That up Then.
It's got nothing to do with the Olympics but today (1/8/12) Israel has passed a law allowing ultra-Orthodox Jews and Israeli Arabs to be called up to the Israeli military for two years compulsory national service. Of course what Kadima was trying to do was bring about an end to national service for non-Orthodox Jews. Personally I've always though one of the biggest problems the Israeli military has had is that too many ultra-Orthodox Jews have been volunteering to stay in the military long after their national service is complete. Some of these guys see themselves as being on something of a Jihad to cleanse Israel of Arabs which obviously leads to a certain degree of tension with Israel's Arab population and neighbours.
The Badminton Scandal.
Yesterday (31/7/12) the World Badminton Federation (wbf) charged two Chinese female, four South Korean female and two Indonesian female badminton players with "not using ones best efforts to win a match" and "conducting oneself in a manner that is abusive or detrimental to the sport" following what were possibly two of the worst games badminton ever played anywhere in the history of the sport. The suspicion was that all four of the pairs were deliberately trying to lose in order to give themselves an easier draw in the next round. Today (1/8/12) the wbf have disqualified all four pairs from the 2012 Olympics.
Although this is the first time that a sports governing body has taken action it is not the first time that competitors at the 2012 Olympics have been suspected of trying not to win. Other examples include but are in no way limited too; The Colombian and Swiss crashes during the men's cycling road race on Saturday (28/7/12), England's under-23's (+Ryan Giggs) football side only managing to beat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 3-1 in the men's soccer on Sunday (29/7/12), that South African swimmer who celebrated by appearing to go to sleep on the lane divider after winning the race directly before Rebecca Adlington's 200m freestyle race on Sunday (29/7/12) and USA swimmer Micheal Phelps becoming the winner of the most Olympic medals ever by only winning a silver medal by losing out to another South African swimmer.
So what the Chinese, the South Koreans and the Indonesians were doing was taking an example of this behaviour to an absurd extreme in order to promote discussion about it. I think the point they were trying to make is because of globalisation and advances in communications technology national governments meet more frequently then they ever have done before. For example the Heads of Government/State (HOGS) of 27 nation European Union (EU) meet in person every month while the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meet on an almost daily basis. Therefore the Olympics is in serious danger of becoming a circus without a purpose so unless it can get people interested in the actual sports it may not survive much beyond the 2016 games.
So I don't know why the ticket holders at the badminton matches in question are moaning about refunds for because they may have been lucky enough to have been there during one of the turning points in Olympic history.

Transport Troubles
i can't get to a full sized keyboard so the badminton thing will have to wait until later.
however on day 5 of the 2012 public transport games london's overground rail network is having significant problems at "cannon street" and "london bridge." engineers have been working overnight at "cannon street" on a signal/track fault. i doubt i'd understand the technical aspects even if i had them but this sounds like a big problem that might require a section of the track being replaced to fix. therefore please be patient.
the problems at "london bridge" seem to be totally fake. designed to significantly disrupt travel to and from the games, create suspicion about the "cannon street" problem and suck everyone into britain's 'black wednesday' set peice. this refers to the first wednesday in august when britain's medical students suddenly become doctors. it's long been recognised as the worst day of the year to go into hospital but this year the government has got some fancy mentoring system it wants to talk about

I Have Good News and Bad News.
Although technically after last night's sojurn into existentialism that should probably just read; "I Have News." even if that might be a little too definitive.
The bad news is that I couldn't get a new battery for my stopwatch. I needed a LR43 and all I could get was a LR44 and no matter how hard I tried to bash it in it just wouldn't fit into the smaller hole. The good news though is that the lack of a a proper rest and recovery period means I'm feeling a bit leggy so I won't be going to the gym today. I might even use the time saved to actually watch some sport.
