It turns out that the telephone call I received on Friday wasn't from Croydon Magistrates Court. It was just a sales call.
Today I did phone the Magistrates Court and guess what. They're not answering thier phone. It's almost as if they don't want to play this game anymore. Of course I'll try again later but it looks as though I'll have to explain their summons error in writing. As the Court date is set for tomorrow I'll have to deliver that letter in person at the start of the hearing. The case will then be adjourned while the correct summons is issued and I'll bill the defence for another 6 hours.
