Cleaning the bathroom, updating my iPod and watching TV while checking my phone. Well I would be if I didn't have to come down here to a full sized keyboard and try and find out information about the progress of the United Nations General Assembly emergency to discuss a Saudi tabled resolution on Syria.
As I can't find out any information about that I'll just have to say that apart from the Olympics the big news in Britain is that some Muslims have been convicted of the 'honour killing' of their daughter who had adopted a 'western lifestyle' after rejecting an 'forced marriage.' As a result the police did a big, special press conference just as my father was visiting my grandmother in the nursing home where they've got the BBCNews channel on constantly. As our 'liberals' and 'feminists' are very against forced marriage the press conference featured lengthy and heart wrenching appeals for anyone in fear of 'domestic violence or abuse' or suspect that someone they know might be at risk of 'abuse in their home' to come forward and speak to the police (state) immediately.
The main reason why the verdict in this long running trial over the killing of "Shafeila Ahmed" was released today though was to have a specific dig at Turkey. You see Turkey has recently put forward for lots of TV news interviews a female fighter from the Saudi Qatari Irregular Army (SQIA) who they are allowing to be trained in their country. In her woodland camouflage fatigues she bears something of a passing resemblance to (somewhat) famous Palestinian freedom fighter "Laila Halid." So the Brits want to know what the hell is going on. More specifically at this point though they're wondering if it's safe to Google "Laila Halid" at work because it might be a bit salty for a non-binding resolution.
